All-Girl's Junior Classic 2006

The first ever Junior Girls tournament was held at Northmead Reserve on 1 & 2nd April.  The Comets had 2 girls represented in the Junior Bees (Waratah State Buzz Junior Team), they were Koby Maber 14/3's and Lyndsey Freeman 12/2's.

There were five u/14 teams competing in the round robin, including a representative team from Victoria. Local teams include Baulkham Hills, Stingrays, Illawarra and the Junior Bee's. The winners of the tournament were Baulkham Hills.

The weekend also included a Home Run Derby and All Stars Baseball game by the Senior Representatives from the NSW Women's Baseball League (NSWWBL).  The All Stars game included Lauren McGrath, another Comets Baseball Girl as the start up pitcher.

Many thanks to NSWWBL for all their time and efforts in organising this event. Many thanks also to Mark Cordingley, NSWWBL Development Officer, Tony and Rick who coached the Junior Bee's Team.  The weekend was well organised and run and the girls had the most fantastic time.  It looks as this is only the beginning of exciting times for Junior Girls Baseball players.  Watch this space for more....
