Coaches, Managers, Umpires & Scorers wanted!None of our teams run by themselves. Each team requires at least one of each of the above positions. We love to see our parents involved in their child's team. If you wish to become involved in any of the above positions the club will work with you to ensure that you are trained to be able to carry out those activities. Coaching If you wish to coach a team please let a member of the clubs Executive know. All applications to coach will be reviewed on their merit. If you wish to become a qualified coach there are a number of courses carried out by Baseball New South Wales, the CSJBA and NSW Sport and Recreation throughout the year. If you successfully complete any of these courses and take up a coaching or Asst Coaching position the club will reimburse you the cost of the course. Assistant coaches are always in demand and the club coaches will work with you. This is a great way to start out. Manager Yes, each team requires a manager. While no formal training is required, the club will provide you with all the bits and pieces you need to manage your team. There is a briefing night before the season begins and you will leave with our Manager's Manual which clearly documents the Managers role from start to finish. While not a hard to position to hold it is extremely crucial to the smooth running of any team. This position will give you a great deal of satisfaction with minimal outlay. Umpire In our Tee-Ball and Zooka games we expect our parents to assist by taking an umpiring role. We don't expect you to be a grade umpire, but we do expect our umpires to understand the basic rules. How often have you heard someone calling out from the crowd in any sport that the umpire was wrong. Well, this is your chance to make an informed decision. If you raise your hand and wish to become an umpire, the club will ensure that you're trained to execute the duties for the age group of your child. If you wish to follow on and become a qualified umpire, the club will reimburse the costs associated with that training. Scorer Every team needs a scorer, even our under 8's. As with the positions above, the club will work with you to ensure that you are adequately trained to score at the age group that your child is playing. The NSW Baseball Scorers Assn runs a number of courses throughout the year. The club will also run workshops or one to one training sessions. Just as the game changes as you child progresses from Tee-Ball to Baseball, so to does the level of scoring. We have a web page dedicated to the art of scoring, why not have a look.
